Scarborough Music Theatre is a non-profit community theatre group based in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The group evolved out of concerts done by the Church of the Master senior choir into the Scarborough Light Opera in the early 1960s. The early years consisted of concerts and Gilbert and Sullivan operas. The 1970/1971 season marked the first full season of musicals with The Fantasticks, Guys and Dolls, and Bells Are Ringing. == About Theatre Scarborough== Together with Scarborough Players and the Scarborough Theatre Guild, Scarborough Music Theatre is a part of Theatre Scarborough, originally known as Playhouse 66. Playhouse 66 was named after the original performing location at 66 Denton Avenue. In 1982, Playhouse 66 moved from 66 Denton Ave. to their current home at the Scarborough Village Theatre in the Scarborough Village Recreation Centre complex at 3600 Kingston Road.
